Linda Mussallem

Linda Mussallem

Linda Mussallem is the co-founder of the Mussallem CHD Alliance, the Linda and Mike Mussallem Foundation, and a lifelong advocate for integrative health, inclusive design, and whole-person care. She has played a pivotal role in advancing health equity and community-based wellness through her philanthropic work, with a focus on underserved and historically excluded populations, including individuals with Down syndrome.
 
Linda serves on the Advisory Board of the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute and helped launch the George and Bob Fund, which has contributed more than $25 million toward programs that elevate dignity, access, and quality of life for people with Down syndrome.
 
Her background spans leadership in interior design, healthcare advocacy, and strategic philanthropy, all centered on creating spaces where people can truly thrive.

Mike Mussallem

Mike Mussallem

Mike Mussallem is the co-founder of the Mussallem CHD Alliance, the Linda and Mike Mussallem Foundation, and former Chairman and CEO of Edwards Lifesciences, where he led transformative innovation in structural heart care for over two decades.

Under his leadership, Edwards became a global leader in patient-first medical technology and established the Edwards Lifesciences Foundation to expand its impact.

Mike and his wife Linda have long supported health equity, Down syndrome advocacy, and whole-person care through strategic philanthropy. Alongside Linda, Mike helped establish the Edwards Lifesciences Foundation and the George and Bob Fund, driving investments in innovation, access, and health system transformation for people living with Down syndrome.

Orin Herskowitz

President, Mussallem CHD Alliance

Orin Herskowitz

Orin Herskowitz is the President of the Mussallem CHD Alliance. Prior to joining, Orin was SVP of Applied Innovation at Columbia University, where he helped lead many of the innovation, entrepreneurship, tech transfer, and science-based economic development initiatives. Orin was also deeply engaged in many science, innovation and entrepreneurship efforts in New York City, New York State, and nationally, including serving as a board member at the Center for American Entrepreneurship; a member of the National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the U.S. Department of Commerce; an Innovation Fellow with Schmidt Futures; and an advisor to the National Science Foundation, ARPA-H, and other agencies. 

Eva Yao

Chief of Staff, Mussallem CHD Alliance

Eva Yao

Eva Yao is the Chief of Staff of the Mussallem CHD Alliance. Eva is on a secondment from McKinsey & Company, where she was a Senior Business Analyst focusing on healthcare clients, predominantly healthcare provider organizations. Eva joined McKinsey out of Dartmouth College, where she studied Government and Psychology. During her undergraduate years at Dartmouth, Eva founded a healthcare nonprofit during COVID, providing financial support for students seeking mental health care.

Amelia Spiegelman

Communications Assistant & Office Manager, Mussallem CHD Alliance

Amelia Spiegelman

Amelia Spiegelman is the Communications Assistant and Office Manager of the Mussallem CHD Alliance. Prior to joining, Amelia worked across multiple divisions of the Simons Foundation, including Science, Society & Culture and Mathematics and Physical Sciences divisions, where she supported various science engagement events. Before these roles, she conducted astrophysics research at NYU’s Center for Cosmology and Particle Physics, contributing to the classification of exoplanets using high-performance computing. Amelia graduated from NYU with a degree in Physics and minors in Astronomy and Studio Art. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in data science through Harvard University.

Jonathan Birabaharan

Research Strategy & Operations Manager, Mussallem CHD Alliance

Jonathan Birabaharan

Jonathan Birabaharan is the Research Strategy & Operations Manager for the Mussallem CHD Alliance. Prior to joining the Foundation, Jonathan was a Blavatnik Fellow at Yale Ventures, where he partnered with Yale faculty to translate cutting-edge science. In this role, he helped lead commercialization efforts across multiple therapeutic areas, including neurodegeneration, immunology, oncology, and women’s health, and supported the launch of several venture-backed startups. Jonathan has been deeply engaged in the life sciences innovation ecosystem throughout his career, spanning academia, startups, and venture capital. He previously worked with UPMC Enterprises, a corporate venture capital firm, LifeX, a Pittsburgh-based accelerator, and Resilient Life Sciences, a medtech startup. Earlier in his career, he held roles at GSK (via PPD) in clinical drug development and at Rockland Immunochemicals in antibody reagent development. Jonathan holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences and an MBA in Pharmacy Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as a BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
